Zero Waste Kids Workshop

Saturday 25th October 2025
Location: Rose Inn Street, Kilkenny
The Cool Food School brings sustainability to life for young food lovers through two interactive, hands-on workshops designed especially for children. Across a fun-filled hour, kids are introduced to the idea of cooking with care for the planet, while learning valuable kitchen skills in a safe and engaging way.
Using something as simple as a carrot, children discover the magic of zero-waste cooking. They begin by washing and peeling their carrot, then turn the peels into delicious, crispy carrot chips. Next, they use the leafy green tops to make a vibrant nut-free pesto, learning how every part of a vegetable has value. Finally, the remaining carrot is chopped and dipped into the freshly made pesto – a tasty reward for their efforts.
These workshops are not only about food, but also about sparking curiosity, creativity, and awareness in the next generation. By showing children how to use an ingredient from tip to root, the Cool Food School demonstrates that cooking sustainably can be fun, flavourful, and full of discovery.
Perfect for young chefs in the making, the Cool Food School workshops make sustainability delicious, inspiring kids to think differently about food and waste.
