Mark McCabe is one of the most recognisable and enduring figures in Irish dance music, with a career spanning more than two decades and a rare ability to move seamlessly between artist, DJ, producer, remixer and broadcaster.
He exploded onto the Irish music scene with Maniac 2000— a record that became a defining anthem of its era, topped the Irish charts and went on to become one of the country’s best-selling singles of all time. More than 25 years later, the track remains firmly embedded in Irish popular culture.
As a remixer, producer and collaborator, McCabe has continued to evolve alongside the dance music landscape, working with artists including Gavin James and the Sunset Bros. His work has contributed to a catalogue that has amassed more than half a billion Spotify streams.
His influence extends well beyond the stage. McCabe has played a significant role in Irish radio, including serving as Director of Music and Sound at RTÉ 2FM, bringing together his instinct for music, programming and audience engagement at the highest level.
As a DJ and live performer, McCabe is renowned for sets that combine the nostalgia and energy of his iconic club records with the biggest sounds in contemporary dance music. His performances have established him as a natural headliner across clubs, festivals and major live events.
In 2025, McCabe marked 25 years of Maniac 2000 with a special anniversary reissue and Maniac 25 at Dublin’s 3Arena, joined by international dance acts including N-Trance, Safri Duo and Cascada.
In 2026, McCabe continues to bring his high-energy live show to audiences across Ireland, performing alongside Tipperary singer Mimi Lane, whose powerful vocals add a fresh dimension to the live experience. Recent appearances include Féile an Phobail, Belsonic, Breakwater and Momentum Fest, as well as a Maniac & Other Bangersheadline show at Dublin’s Olympia Theatre.
With a career that has successfully crossed generations, formats and musical eras, Mark McCabe remains a distinctive force in Irish dance music — an artist whose biggest record became an Irish cultural phenomenon, but whose career has continued to evolve long after its original release.
