Thursday 03th July 2025
Location: Kells Priory, Priory Grove, Kellsborough, Kells, Co. Kilkenny
An Evening of Song & Story at Kells Priory
with Peia, Rónán Ó Snodaigh & Candlelit Tales

Join us for a rare and intimate open-air gathering at the ancient grounds of Kells Priory for a night steeped in the old songs and the enduring power of story. This special evening brings together two luminous voices in the folk tradition, Peia and Rónán Ó Snodaigh, in collaboration with the spellbinding storytellers of Candlelit Tales.

Peia Luzzi is a song carrier, folklorist, and multi-instrumentalist whose voice carries the echo of ancient tradition. Drawing from her Irish and Old World European roots, Peia revives centuries-old ballads, laments, and mountain songs with reverence and vitality. Her performances, often described as timeless and transcendent – are woven with the hypnotic sounds of harmonium and charangón, carrying listeners through landscapes of longing, memory, and spirit.

Rónán Ó Snodaigh, founding member of the legendary Irish band Kíla, is renowned for his fiercely original songwriting and electrifying bodhrán playing. Fusing poetic lyricism with rhythm-rich improvisation, Rónán embodies the spirit of both bard and rebel — invoking the mysticism of Turlough O’Carolan with the raw presence of a folk visionary. His solo performances are visceral, joyful, and deeply rooted in the storytelling traditions of Ireland.
