Barefoot dance is a monthly Immersive Ecstatic Dance in Thomastown- a freestyle dance wave inspired by the 5 rhythms of Gabrielle Roth.The October Samhain edition of our Barefoot dance includes elements of Irish Folklore, Chekhov technique using imagination to dance a character, and then a freestyle dance with contemporary world dance wave and live percussion.Dressing up at Samhain (Halloween) has long been a tradition in Ireland- why should kids get all the fun?! People historically dressed up as Pucas to scare away ghosts! There is a lot of power in the mask- and a lot of powerful figures in Irish myth, from the magical gods of the Tuatha de Danán (who became the ‘fairies,’) to the Cailleach (witch).
