Being a Good Ancestor:

Saturday 04th November 2023
Location: Pembroke Hotel Kilkenny 11 Patrick Street
When Jonas Salk the man who discovered the cure for polio was asked why he never patented his wonder-drug in order to make his fortune, he replied that he “wanted to be a good ancestor”. We too are only taking care of the place for people who yet to be born! Environmental degradation is colonising the future, we are destroying the planet and being extremely poor ancestors. Imagine trying to leave the planet in a better shape than when we got it? That requires long-term thinking in an endemic short-term world and changing our economic system to put the planet first and ourselves second. How do we do it? Come to this thrilling discussion and find out!
