Ceol Óg – Ceiliúradh Óg an Cheoil

Saturday 14th March 2026
Location: St. Canice’s Cathedral, Kilkenny City
Music Generation Kilkenny celebrates St. Patrick’s Day with a special performance, Ceol Óg – Ceiliúradh Óg an Cheoil (A Youth Celebration of Music), as part of the St. Patrick’s Festival Kilkenny.
Building on their wonderful performances at last year’s festival, the Castlecomer Trad Ensemble return to the stage at St. Canice’s Cathedral, joined by a group of talented young Uilleann Pipers. Their combined sound brings depth, colour and tradition to this uplifting youth concert. The pipers will perform together before joining with the Ensemble for a memorable collaborative set.

The Trad Ensemble is made up of Music Generation Kilkenny students and brings together young musicians who share a love of Irish music and performance. Completing the lineup is the Kilkenny Youth Choir, seasoned performers who sing regularly in St. Canice’s Cathedral. Their choral pieces will complement the traditional music beautifully, adding variety and richness to the overall performance. The combination of young traditional musicians, uilleann pipers and youth choir in such an historic venue promises an engaging and heart-warming celebration of young musical talent.
