Light up the river to honour those who are no longer with us.
There are many rituals around the world that use lanterns in remembering the dead. In Japan and China, the day of the dead celebrations honouring those who have passed away, see crowds and communities writing their ancestors names on lanterns, then releasing them into rivers as a way to help guide spirits to the other world.

This procession, meeting in the Village Square, will make its way to the quay side opposite the Woodman Cafe to lay down remembrance lanterns along the riverside for loved ones no longer in this realm. Led by songs from the Song Exchange, this procession is an opportunity for communal remembrance and honouring of dear departed friends and family.
