Directed by Henning Kraggerud
The Irish Chamber Orchestra with leader Katherine Hunka returns to Kilkenny with an atmospheric programme of nocturnal music led by their new Artistic Partner, Henning Kraggerud.
Artistic Director of the Arctic Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra in Norway, Kraggerud is a staggeringly accomplished composer, violinist, arranger and improviser who has worked with many of the world’s leading orchestras. As a composer his largest-scale work is the gorgeous Equinox: 24 Postludes in All Keys for Violin and String Orchestra, which he showcases here in an eclectic programme that mixes iconic works like Bach’s Brandenberg Concerto and Barber’s Adagio for strings with two pieces by trailblazing twentieth-century female composers: Amy Beach and ‘Lili’ Boulanger.
Programme
Johann Sebastian Bach Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 in G major BWV 1048
Arnold Schoenberg Notturno for Strings and Harp
