The award-winning Kilkenny Comedy Club kicks off the new year with a bang! Headlining this month is the brilliant Paul Currie. Paul is a Northern Irish award winning stand-up – a true pioneer of absurdist avant guard stand up comedy. He’s been pushing the boundaries of stand-up ever since his debut in 2004. By taking his brand of comedy which is a fusion of clown, surrealism, mime, puppetry, music, story and “in the moment” crowd participation he gently encourages audiences to think beyond the everyday comedy we are spoon fed via the TV and social media. You have never seen anyone like Paul Currie! Support comes from Sophia Wren and Síomha Hennessy. Sophia is one of Ireland’s most exciting and fastest rising comedy voices. She’s appeared on all of Ireland’s biggest comedy stages including the main stage at Paddy Power and Electric Picnic and most recently opening for Daniel Soss in Vicar St. She recently enjoyed a sold out run at Dublin Fringe Festival with her debut show ‘Princess Melancholy’ followed by a very successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe 2025 (Scotsman 4 Stars). Síomha calls herself “Ireland’s oldest and least famous pop star”, but Paste Magazine declares her “an utter gem” and her comedy “a complete standout hour”. MC for the night is the hirsute and hilarious Shannon Basso Gaule!
