70 Contributors. 60 Events. 3 Days. 1 Medieval City. The festival returns to Kilkenny from Friday 6 to Sunday 8 November, and this year is genuinely the strongest lineup we’ve ever put together. Over sixty shows across the weekend, including Cory Doctorow, Mariana Mazzucato, Rory Sutherland, The Etymology Nerd and Kyla Scanlon, plus the Planet Money team from New York for three shows including a live one in St. Canice’s Cathedral. Serious sessions on the end of the dollar, what comes after Trump, whether Britain can be fixed by Burnham, and how Ireland actually solves the housing crisis. As you know, Kilkenomics is as much a comedy festival as an economics one. The weekend is threaded through with the sharpest comedians in the country, including Alison Spittle, Paddy Cullivan, Karl Spain, Colm O’Regan and Kevin McGahern, plus walking tours and the Sunday brunches you already come for. New this year: the Marble Sessions. A Saturday of home-grown Irish music in intimate rooms across the town, with Lisa Hannigan, Cardinals and Lucy McWilliams.
