Bach Adagio from solo sonata in g minor BWV1001 György Kurtág “Elegie” arranged for violin and bass by Barry Guy “Hommage à Eberhard Feltz” for Maya Homburger and Barry Guy In this venue in 2016, during Kilkenny Arts Festival, Maya Homburger and Barry Guy performed a programme entitled “Kurtág at 90” and now ten years later they are back in the Parade Tower to celebrate the music of this extraordinary man György Kurtág. On his birthday on 19th February Maya and Barry will also participate in a celebratory music festival in the Budapest Music Centre honouring Kurtág in his home country. Kurtág’s music has been part of Maya Homburger and Barry Guy’s duo concerts for many years. Kurtág dedicated the piece ‘Hommage à Eberhard Felltz” to them. The world première of a new piece by Barry Guy “Out of the Box” for viola and bass, inspired by the the architectural book of the same title will be performed in this recital.
