He gave his Wigmore Hall debut at 19 to high critical acclaim and three years later he won the Andres Segovia International Competition in Spain. Paul has been invited as a soloist to most parts of the world, including the Americas and Hong-Kong. Over the years, he has broadcast regularly on BBC Radio 3 and has recorded for the Opus 1, Meridian and Claudio record labels. He has been a member of the Lontano Ensemble specialising in contemporary music and plays in duo with pianist Yoko Ono. Simon Taylor is from Dublin and also started the guitar at the age of 10 with Dr. Joseph Groocock. He later studied in London and participated in many masterclasses with leading international artists. He has performed extensively throughout Ireland and in the UK, Spain, France, Iceland and the USA, broadcast on RTE radio and television and has recorded discs of Irish, Spanish and South American music. In his subsequent career in music management Simon Taylor was Head of Orchestras at RTE; Senior Producer, Classical Music for BBC Northern Ireland; Chief Executive of Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra in England and, most recently, Chief Executive of the National Concert Hall, Dublin. Paul and Simon’s concert tour in Ireland and the UK in April/May marks over four decades of friendship and their joint 70th birthday (almost to the day) in January 2026
