Welcome to The Alchemy of Art!
Come join us at Wild Flower Café (at Butler Gallery) for a magical evening to discover the power and alchemy of turning life experiences, often difficult to comprehend, into extraordinary works of art.
On the night, four artists will each take to the stage for 20 minutes to share a personal story — a moment in their life that left a lasting impact. They’ll talk about how that experience shaped them and how it found its way into their creative process.
Each artist will also showcase the artwork that emerged from that time, offering a glimpse into the intimate connection between life and art.
With a very special and unique line up:
Alice Bennett is a Zimbabwean-born artist, writer, and teacher/researcher who has lived in Kilkenny since 2000. Her creative work—both visual and literary—centres on themes of women’s resilience, transformation, and hope. Through her paintings and poetry, Alice takes audiences on a journey that is both deeply personal and universally resonant.
Ita Morrisey is an artist that works with words, people and performance. She has previously created multicdiscinplinary threatical performances in usual settings. Usually inspired by topics that relate to human behaviour – like being a parent, being a consumer in a captialists society or our relationship with food.
Paddy Doyle is a poet, writer & storyteller based in Kinsale. A dynamic performer, he seamlessly blends ancient Irish myths with contemporary tales of coming of age in sleepy towns being rudely awakened by the dreaded beats of punk-rock, hip-hop and techno.
Trisha Norton is a writer of literary fiction and poetry whose work explores the intricate beauty of everyday life, often through the lens of magical realism and historical fiction. Trisha’s works continuously seek to uncover the emotional depth and quiet drama of ordinary moments, where internal worlds quietly collide.
