The Economics of a United Ireland

Friday 03th November 2023
Location: The Set Theatre, John St.
Can We Afford it? Can we afford not to? Northern Ireland costs the UK Exchequer more than €10 billion a year, has a huge public sector, and has much lower social welfare rates than the Republic. On the other hand, cross-border post-Brexit trade is booming and there could be huge benefits to an integrated all-island economy. If a United Ireland is really on the cards, what does it look like economically and can the island prosper together?
