Music Generation Kilkenny, in partnership with Na Píobairí Uilleann, is offering a free uilleann pipes taster session to young people. What a great opportunity to listen to some accomplished uilleann pipers as well as trying out the instrument with the assistance of an experienced player.
Master Uilleann pipers from Na Píobairí Uilleann and the Kilkenny Pipers Club will facilitate this taster session.
Music Generation Kilkenny is part of Music Generation, Ireland’s national music education programme, initiated by Music Network and co-funded by U2, The Ireland Funds, the Department of Education and Local Music Education Partnerships. Locally, Music Generation Kilkenny is led by Kilkenny and Carlow ETB in partnership with Kilkenny County Council.
Na Píobairí Uilleann is the society of uilleann pipers founded to promote the playing, the making, and the teaching of the instrument. Now, fifty-two years later, Na Píobairí Uilleann is a thriving arts organisation with thousands of members worldwide, dedicated to Sharing the Sound of Ireland through Access, Education, Performance and Preservation.
