YOUNG FOOD PRODUCERS MARKET

Saturday 25th October 2025
Location: MacDonagh Junction Shopping Centre
The Young Food Producers Market returns for 2025 on Saturday, October 25th, from 1pm–4pm. This exciting initiative offers a unique opportunity for fresh-thinking young entrepreneurs to showcase and sell their own homemade produce in a vibrant market atmosphere at the heart of Kilkenny.
The Young Producers Market forms part of the Student Enterprise Programme, supported by Local Enterprise Office (LEO) Kilkenny, and is designed to encourage creativity, entrepreneurship, and hands-on business experience among students. Participants will not only gain the chance to engage with real customers in a bustling shopping centre environment, but they will also develop vital skills in product development, marketing, and customer interaction.
To ensure best practice in food safety, all students taking part will complete a Certificate in Food Hygiene Level 1, a valuable qualification that is required before trading begins. This training provides them with an essential foundation for safe food handling and preparation, helping to instill confidence and professionalism as they begin their journey into food production and entrepreneurship.
Applications are now open for students wishing to participate in this unique event. The closing date for applications is Friday, October 10th, and places are limited. This is an excellent opportunity for young people with a passion for food, creativity, and business to take their first steps in the food industry while being part of one of Ireland’s most celebrated food festivals.
