Formed in Italy in the mid-’90s, Satellite Inn emerged as an unlikely player in the early alternative country scene, earning US attention with their 1998 debut Cold Morning Songs and tours including CMJ and SXSW. Momentum stalled when their label folded in 2001, but frontman Stiv Cantarelli regrouped back home, steering the band through a second phase before a long hiatus. Reuniting during lockdown, they returned in 2024 with their first album in 25 years, blending folk, rock, punk and country with a more seasoned voice. Following UK and European acclaim and tours alongside artists like Chris Eckman and Nick Lowe, the band are now working on a new album in South Wales for release in 2026, reconnecting with longtime collaborators and revisiting unfinished material from their past.
