Kilkenny Arts Festival presents Francesco Turrisi, Rhiannon Giddens, Niwel Tsumbu & Éamonn Cagney
Last year Grammy Award-winning polymath Francesco Turrisi’s residency at the Festival featured a thrilling collaboration with Kate Ellis and Congolese guitar virtuoso Niwel Tsumbu. This year Turrisi and Tsumbu are joined by two very special musical collaborators.
A founding member of the landmark Black string band Carolina Chocolate Drops, and the all-female banjo supergroup, Our Native Daughters, Rhiannon Giddens is a singer, multi-instrumentalist, composer and award-winner (including two Grammys and a Pulitzer Prize) with a passion for championing those whose contributions to American musical history have often gone overlooked.
Éamonn Cagney’s hand-drumming talent has made him one of Ireland’s most sought-after musicians. A regular collaborator with Niwel Tsumbu, he mixes technical virtuosity and soulfulness across a dazzling range of instruments and styles.
From Americana to flamenco via the Mediterranean and central Africa, this will be an unforgettable musical adventure performed by some of the finest musicians around.
Please note: this is a standing show with limited seating available upstairs.
