Environmental artist, Jen Castle would like to invite you to visit her exhibition in the
lovely Mayfair Library in Kilkenny City.
Jen will be showing a selection of her charcoal and charcoal egg tempera artworks
created over the last couple of years. The work explores the relationship between
place and plants. The place being a 3-acre piece of land in County Kilkenny, named
‘an Spéir ARK’ which has been left to re-wild and regenerate itself over the last
decade. The plants are the native plants growing on this land surrounding the
artist’s studio and home. Dried plant specimens collected from the land will
accompany the artwork.
An interactive paper scroll will be present throughout the exhibition and will give
visitors an opportunity to learn and try out their skills of working with the flexible
charcoal medium. Jen will be working from the gallery space during the exhibition
and hopes to see you there!
Special Guest Musician Kate Powell has composed a soundscape taken from
‘an Spéir ARK’ which will add a special dimension to the exhibition.
