Sunday 13th August 2023
Location: St John’s Priory
The Carducci String Quartet’s presentation of the complete cycle of Shostakovich string quartets was one of the highlights of last year’s Festival and it’s a pleasure to welcome them back this year with a very different series of lunchtime concerts in St John’s.
This year, the quartet showcases its astonishingly diverse repertoire, performing pieces by everyone from Beethoven, Haydn and Mendelssohn to the contemporary American composers Philip Glass and Caroline Shaw, as well as Astor Piazzolla, whose wonderfully stirring and dramatic Four, for Tango, rounds off the final concert in style.
