Join The Kilkenny Choir for an uplifting evening of specially selected Christmas music, that includes a mix of traditional and contemporary carols for all the family to enjoy. Christmas is synonymous with the sweet sound of choral music filling the air and enhancing the festive spirit so why not take time out from the hustle and bustle of the Christmas chaos to pause and soak up the atmosphere in the wonderful setting of St Canice’s.
The choir, which comprises approximately 60 singers, was established thirty years ago and has been a steadfast contributor to music making in Kilkenny for all those years. Members from all corners of the county assemble on a weekly basis to rehearse the pieces that form part of the two main annual concerts. In the past, the choir have also collaborated with visiting choirs and toured around Ireland and abroad. Highlights from previous seasons include Handel’s Messiah, Britten’s Ceremony of Carols, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Mozart’s Requiem and Haydn’s Theresienmesse. Kick off the Christmas Season this year by listening to your festive favourites being sung by the Kilkenny Choir at Yulefest.
