Sunday 27th August 2023
Location: Piltown County Kilkenny
The Iverk Show is Ireland’s Oldest Agricultural Show and is now one of the country’s premier one day family events with attendance close to 25,000.
The Iverk show, the oldest agricultural show in Ireland, is a one day traditional yet modern agricultural event. Since 1826 the Iverk show is a family / community-based event hosting All Ireland championship finals and qualifiers for other finals.
The annual show on the fourth Saturday in August is held in the village of Piltown on the N 24 in County Kilkenny between Waterford and Clonmel.
In 1866 the press reported that “There is no doubt that the show excels in the way of a re-union or social gathering”. We are very proud that this tradition continues right up to the present show.
There are classes for in-hand and riding horses, show jumping, sheep, cattle, poultry, eggs, dogs, fruit, vegetables, flowers, flower arranging, farm produce, arts, crafts, jams, cakes, and honey.
We have classes for adults and children with special sections for primary and secondary school pupils.
The ‘Most Appropriately Dressed Lady’ competition is always well supported and every bonny baby gets a prize. The famous Iverk catwalk is a hive of activity for the fashion show.
A display of vintage cars, tractors and machinery with working demonstrations is one of the highlights.
The 300 to 400 trade stands from large outdoor exhibits to small indoor industries and artisan food stalls represent all section of commercial industries. The food market marquee attracts local and national food producers.
A garden section with a free children’s’ play area is a must visit area for families. The free musical entertainment plaza is a great place to relax and unwind.
The most exciting competition of the day is the ‘Tug-O-War’ especially when the local children are invited to take part. The craic is mighty.
Parking is free with a special area for disabled parking.
We greatly appreciate your participation and cooperation and look forward to seeing you all at this year’s show with a ‘cead mile failte’.
