The Kilkenny Sustainable Art Show returns to An Chéad Tine, May 10-25th, as part of Living Earth Rising Bealtanie Festival and in partnership with @national.biodiversity.week @kilkennycoco and will be officially opened by Gareth Kennedy (artist, lecturer, and lead at NCAD FIELD)
Curated by @marydoyleburke and hosted by An Chéad Tine Art Gallery, this exhibition invited submissions from artists from all disciplines exploring sustainability in material, message or method. Mary Doyle Burke states “that the large and high quality of entries is testament to great waves that Irish creatives and environmentalists are making in the area of sustainability. Here in this selection of artworks you will see weaving with natural fibres, crafting films that reflect our changing ecosystems, printing and painting with plant-based inks, biodiversity themed paintings, sculptures from natural materials and installation works amongst Artist Books and Poetry. As a curator and an artist, I am interested in adopting circular practices which focuses on reducing waste, promoting recycling and using sustainable materials. It is with great joy that I bring this exhibition to the public now in its 2nd year.”
