The centre of every St. Patrick’s Festival, the Kilkenny St. Patrick’s Day Parade will take place on Sunday March 17th at 1.30pm through the streets of Kilkenny. Putting Kilkenny centre stage the parade will weave tales and showcase legends through the medieval city streets of Kilkenny. With live music, pageantry, and local community groups the Parade is a celebration of Kilkenny, our community and our welcoming culture.
This year’s theme will be Kilkenny Cats: Tales and Legends. From ancient tales to present day legends Kilkenny has it all. With history and stories from witches and cats to Tudors and castles and present day legends in sports stars, musicians, artists and community leaders. Participants are invited to tap into the tales and present the legends that are most important to them.
The 2024 Parade route will go from John Street, to Rose Inn Street, The Parade (Review stand), High Street, and finish at the Market Yard. Line the streets and enjoy the pageantry, music and spectacle.
Before and after the Parade the streets of Kilkenny will be full of lively entertainment and activity with live music, food and crafts at the Festival Market, Street Entertainment, carnival rides and fun for all the family! Make a day of it, or better still make a couple days of it as the Festival runs from the 15th – 18th March 2024. Meet you there!
Parade participation is open to community groups, sports teams, schools and organisations. Groups are asked to put their imaginations to work to create an entry for the Parade. The application form for groups taking part can be found here: https://stpatricksfestivalkilkenny.com/parade-application-form/
