An Chéad Tine Art Gallery will run Kilkenny Sustainable Art Exhibition again in 2025 selected & curated by Mary Doyle Burke. The exhibition will co-incide with Biodiversity Week Ireland @national.biodiversity.week and Kilkenny Biodiversity Week @Kilkennycountycouncil
We encourage artists to enter who in their Art Practice:
– create art from organic or sustainable materials or explore the concept of biodiversity and sustainability in their practices.
– Explore alternative materials and techniques that minimize environmental impact, such as natural dyes and eco-friendly printmaking methods.
(Material selection used in artforms could be e.g natural materials: Use of plant-based paints, eco-friendly inks, use of natural or sustainable materials for sculpture, and other natural materials or eco friendly options)
– Document their sustainable art practices and share them with others for e.g in a published zone or book etc or as a learning tool for others.
-Create projects that reflect on the environmental and social implications of your artistic choices and demonstrate this through any artform for e.g digital film..
Works entered should :
• Reflect on humanity’s relationship with the natural world.
• Address the challenges and solutions of climate change.
• Imagine sustainable futures and environmental resilience.
• Raise awareness about the fragility of ecosystems and the urgency for action
